Masthof Press

Preserving Your Research

You have spent many days researching and writing your book and now you are ready to think about sharing this "labor of love" with others in a quality publication. It is our privilege to explain how we can assist in your project.

You do not need to be a polished writer or even an expert typist to write a book. All you need is a commitment to publishing! A commitment to sharing a part of your "rich" heritage with your family and friends. A commitment to preserving your research so that it isn't lost to future generations.

Masthof Press is set up with state-of-the-art computer equipment for desktop publishing so we can typeset, layout, and index your manuscript. This includes three different stages of proofreading and at least one copy given to you for your final approval prior to the printing stage. We are fortunate to have a dedicated staff who enjoys his or her specific task in this printing process: typesetting, proofreading, design and layout, indexing, and printing. We also will work with you if you decide to prepare the camera-ready copy yourself. The final electronic file is then either sent to our Imagesetter to make films for our print shop, or it is out-sourced to a larger offset printing company.

We have printed over 500 different book titles—genealogies, histories, novels, children's books, educational textbooks, as well as inspirational books. It all started in 1982 when Lemar and Lois Ann Mast began editing and publishing Mennonite Family History—a quarterly periodical on family history and genealogy of the Amish, Brethren, and Mennonites. We have been in the printing business for over fifteen years and have the experience and staff to assist you.

The cost of publishing your book depends on the size of the book, the number of pages and photographs, and how many books you order. The main expense in book manufacturing is the set-up; therefore, the more books you order, the less expensive it is "per copy."

Publishing is certainly an exciting adventure! You are passing part of yourself on to future generations. The material you have written will not only be shared with others, but it will also be preserved for posterity. May we help you preserve your research and writing? We would consider it an honor to help you become the proud author of a new book!
