  • Begin with progenitor as #1, his oldest child as #2, etc.
• Direct Outline
  • Roman capitals for children
  • Indentation and capitals for second generation
  • Indentation and Arabic numerals for third generation, etc.
• York System
  • Capital letters for each progenitor or immigrant
  • Numerals for each child corresponding to order of birth (A125)
• Generation Designation
  • Begin with the oldest child and exhaust that child's family before repeating with later children.
